I have made this several times and it's wonderful! It's easy and impressive! One of my favorite appetizers! I do tweek it just a little bit by brushing with melted butter/garlic powder and toasting the bread slightly on both sides prior to adding the topping. I also add a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar to the top!
I had this sauce in Italy on vacation last year and fell in love with it. Chef John's video's are Awesome and recipes are easy to follow ..... love allrecipes.com because they have "normal" recipes to help me be a great cook! Because there's quite a bit of chopping involved, I double (or triple) the recipe and freeze leftover sauce for a future date. It freezes well! Enjoy!
I made this recipe using chicken thighs and it was really good! Easy enough to do and very impressive with all the colors! Would definitely make again!
