When I made this soup, I added a little extra carrots and celery. It was just a little too much. This recipe is absolutely perfect just as is! I used Chef John's recipe for the stock, and what a terrific soup it made! The cayenne gave it a subtle kick... be careful not to put in too much. I made it for several sick family members, and got big thumbs up. This is a keeper!
This was the BEST brownie I've EVER made!! ..and I didn't even frost them..! I was dubious after reading many of the reviews, but found this recipe to be super easy and so delicious! I did double the batch, and in hopes of having a more chewy, less cakey brownie (most reviews mentioned it was a happy medium), I only used 3 eggs instead of doubling the called-for 2 eggs. I added 1/4 c buttermilk (because everything is better with buttermilk, am I right?) to make sure I didn't dry out my brownies by skipping an egg. The batter seemed too thin, but the TASTE...?! STUPENDOUS!! I baked my double batch in a 13x9 for an extra 7 minutes and ended up with perfection! Next time I will reduce the buttermilk a teeny bit, and mix the batter even less than I did this time (mix dry and wet separately, then combine the two and stir 30 strokes). Melts in your mouth! And it's not too sweet, either! BEST brownie recipe ever!
Turned out yummy, but I really was wanting to taste more cheesecake than I did; could barely get the flavor at all. I think I'll make it again and add more. Good, solid base recipe, though.
I've made these 3 times already, after having just found this recipe a couple of weeks ago! I am always looking for healthy alternatives in the kitchen as my husband had a heart transplant in 2010. He has a super active sweet tooth, unfortunately, so this recipe was a Godsend. He LOVES these, we both do. One really good benefit is that it's a great source of fiber. No discomfort or bloating, either. Another wonderful benefit is the energy I get after having 3 or 4 of these. It works like a charm to have these with a cuppa Joe for a nice start to my day.
I added 1/4 cup of Chia seeds this last batch, and my husband is positively RAVING about how good they are. I prefer to use organic as much as possible. In the event it looks dry, I just add a little extra honey. Oh Em Gee... Best recipe on here! Thanks for the recipe, and thank you especially to all those who took the time to submit their reviews, as they are SO important to the overall success of the recipe!!!
I made this recipe with no changes... and WOW!!! This is honestly the best-tasting icing I've EVER had! It was super smooth and creamy (the cream cheese is a total game changer!), it was plenty chocolatey, and best of all: it wasn't yucky sweet. The sweetness of this icing is tempered by the cream cheese, coffee, and salt. I did see a few reviews saying they cut back the powdered sugar a bit, so I was careful. However, I accidentally used butter with salt, so I halved the salt. That allowed me to actually go over the amount of powdered sugar to thicken it a tad while ending up with scrumptious icing!
My husband got a kick out of me doing my happy dance in the kitchen! Most of all, he really loved his birthday cake.. Many thanks to the person who posted and those who reviewed this recipe. It will be a standard in my kitchen from here on out!
With a few changes (mentioned by so many in the reviews), these cookies were easy to make, easy to work with, and absolutely delicious! In addition to the changes recommended, I also swapped mascarpone for the cream cheese. What a Holiday treat!
