I only had white mushrooms and used white cooking wine instead of sherry. I threw in some roughly chopped sundried tomatoes near the end and it brightened it up beautifully! Great (and forgiving) recipe!

Wow! The best I've ever made! We like it creamy so I used a pound of macaroni and doubled the sauce. This is now my go-to mac n cheese recipe and I'll be playing around with it. Thanks!

YUM!!! I made this to the letter except I replaced the water with homemade chicken stock and omitted the canned green beans (Blech!) I'll serve this with rice and top it with a dollop of Greek yogurt and a bit of cilantro. Can't wait to plug in my crock pot in the morning!

I made this almost exactly as written but cooked the bacon, and then the whole dish, in an electric cooker using bone-in skin-on leg quarters. Everyone Loved it! Will use more Brussels sprouts next time. A+
