Good recipe. I made it without any meat as I didn't have any available. I served it over pasta and it turned out to be a good basic dish. I'm pretty sure with some well seasoned sausage it would be great. I also didn't have any cilantro.
I added some whole nutmeg and some anise. I also don't consume sugar so I added some warm whole milk to my cup. You can go heavier with the spice of you like, but it's not bad at all if you follow the recipe.
Great recipe. I didn't use oil. I also used veal bacon instead of pork and vegetable stock instead of chicken stock. I let it simmer for an extra 15 min. It came out amazing, but a bit too salty for my palette. The bacon is pretty salty so I think next time I won't add a pinch of salt.
