Flavor was good, but weak. I would have liked some sauce to pour over top. Should have read the reviews first! Next time will double sauce, maybe add some cornstarch and ginger, and marinate longer. Mine didn't look as ugly as the other pictures, but broiling sounds like a good idea.
Made this with petrole sole on a roll with coleslaw. Used a little olive oil in the pan and didn't need as much butter. Delicious! Also didn't smoke out my kitchen like I've done with other blackened recipes.
Scaled down for 12 oz shredded brussel sprouts (pre-bagged at Whole Foods). Needed more grease than 2 pieces of bacon. Skipped almonds since didn't have any.
Used shrimp instead of chicken and 1/2 evaporated milk, 1/2 2%. Added a little cornstarch since it was very watery and added extra cheese. Also used peas and shallots since we didn't have mushrooms or green onions. Definitely worth making again.
