this is the second time I've tried this recipe. I never follow directions exactly, but these were close enough! I used half and half instead of milk. I also used 2 cups of starter instead of 1/2 cup and added a bit of baking powder. Hard for me to get them cooked through without burning, but I'll keep working on it!

Can the margarine and use butter!

Omitted barley and substituted 1/2 cup of brown rice and 1/4 cup of couscous. Also omitted celery because I didn't have any on hand!

I make this soup in huge batches using huge Kohlrabi! Nobody buys the big ones (softball or larger), but they work well for the soup. Use a strainer after you blend it to get any remaining strings of fiber out!
