I made the cake according to the recipe. The only difference was I wanted more meringue so I made the cake with four eggs. I only had a brownie pan close to what was requested in the recipe it was fine. When I was mixing the batter I thought oh no it’s going to be a heavy dense cake , you know like a brick. I baked it without the topping for 25 mins then put the meringue on and browned it with the broiler. Boy Was I wrong it was light, nice crumb, and the meringue was perfect. Now this cake is a major recipe in our house.

Every time I make banana bread it comes out like a brick. This came out fabulous! Mine comes out of the oven a little darker because that’s how my family likes sweet breads. It had a crispy crust, moist and light in side. The only thing I did was toast the walnuts. Didn’t change a thing and Im not going to. Great Recipe!

I always make a recipe the way it’s listed. Any changes are done later. To tell you the truth this was GREAT! I halved the recipe cause I had only 12 pack of Hawaiian rolls which I do not like. I made a mistake and put a whole envelope of onion soup mix. I thought it was going to be salty, nope it was ok. My husband loved them with pickles , corn on the cob and baked beans. I now will eat Hawaiian bread only with this recipe! Thanks Minnesota Girl for for the idea! And I don’t know what a White Castle taste like they don’t have them in California. Wish they did!

I hate meatloaf! I’m Hispanic and my mother cooked 10 days a week for her family of 11, Mexican food. When she made us TV dinners or fried chicken we were excited for the “treat”. When I married my husband he wanted authentic tortillas (yeah right) Mexican food but I had to learn American Good House keeping style recipes also. His mom was into casseroles,spaghetti, etc she bought me a Betty Crocker Cookbook 26 years ago. But the main recipe he liked was Meatloaf. I made a good recipe and I always got compliments. But I would not eat it, I wouldn’t eat anyone’s! BUT I tried this recipe and It is fantastic! Simple ingredients, moist, makes great grilled Parmesan sourdough meatloaf sandwiches. I think the secret is you don’t have to put everything but the kitchen sink into this recipe like, pork, turkey, blah blah blah!I don’t know about you but I don’t a little butcher shop in my freezer and I won’t. I LOVE MARYS MEATLOAF! PS I can’t leave a pic we ate it all. The End
