Great and easy. Substituted whole milk for buttermilk. It seems to have worked. Made it on the BBQ at the cottage in a cast iron pan. Lid thermometer reading 375.
Truly fall off the bone. I pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used dried rosemary and flour instead of corn starch. I made the “slurry” in a bit of the beef broth and not water. Oh yeah, I used white wine. I did not have any red on hand.
I loved this recipe. Unlike a lot of the other reviews I did not find the sauce to bitter or sour. It complemented the smoked salmon I used nicely. However, I think I would have enjoyed the tangy flavour on a traditional Benny as well. I did not use rye bread, but instead used a bed of whole grain brown rice and black lentils made into patties with the remaining egg whites.
Amazing. Loved the eggyness. So easy. I added a teaspoon of magic baking powder - I’m not sure if it did anything, but mine turned out light and eggy. I used frozen blueberries so I added 5 minutes to make sure the batter around the berries was fully cooked.
I found 2.5 cups of 1/2&1/2 was a little runny. I would up the eggs to cream ratio next time. I dusted the apples with a little cinnamon. It turned out good after 15 more minutes at 375.
