Good, easy recipe. Used the rice that I have, which takes 30 min and 5 cups of liquid for this amount of rice, so just added 1 cup of water in addition to the broth, cooked an extra 10 minutes and that was fine. Omitted pine nuts as I didn't have them and added some thawed frozen peas at the end, just stirred in to warm, in order to make it a one pot-meal. Thanks, I'll definitely make it again.
I've never tried these before but will be making again. I didn't have rye bread so used sourdough. I sprinkled a bit of garlic powder over the patties, as I always do with beef patties. I think I'll try Swiss cheese next time, as a few others have suggested, and maybe even some mushrooms with the onions. Thanks for a great recipe!
Great tasting recipe and pretty easy and economical too. I only had beef (top sirloin, I think) that I had chopped up and frozen beforehand, so used that. I coated the pieces in the flour mixture, browned in batches then removed and followed the rest of the steps, omitting the water and adding the beef back to warm before serving. I doubled the tomato (for more sauce), used an orange bell pepper and dehydrated onion flakes instead of powder as these are the things I had on hand. I ended up adding a bit of garlic powder toward the end and will probably do that or grate 1 or two fresh cloves into the sauce next time also. Served over egg noodles for a super-filling, comforting and delicious dinner. Thanks for the recipe!
So good. Thanks for the recipe! I liked the raw onion but grated it so no big raw chunks. I subbed coconut sugar for white (which gives it a more brown sugary flavour). This original version is great and inspirational...I'm already thinking of other flavours/versions to experiment with.
This was great tasting, very quick and inexpensive. It reminds me of ramen noodles, just less soupy, waaay more flavorful and much healthier. Instead of vegetable oil, I used the chicken drippings I had left over from roasting the chicken thighs I used for this recipe, which amped up the chicken-y deliciousness.
Great! I used ground turkey as that's what I had and just added it after the veggies. I added some diced green beans and omitted the sage. Very good, quick and versatile recipe!
