Darn it! This was #*%& delicious 🤤 My family doesn’t like peas so I used chickpeas. Instead of pepper slices, I chopped them. I didn’t have chorizo so I used bacon. I know it’s an no-no but I used basmati because I love it. Didn’t less/ more broth or liquid. I bought peeled/deveined shrimp so instead of boiling the shells, I substituted an 8 oz bottle of clam clam juice. Otherwise, I cooked/baked according to the directions. The smell from the oven… my family loved it. ❤️ THANK YOU CHEF JOHN
This is a super hamburger bun in every sense of the word. I didn’t read the reviews about the size of the buns until it was too late. I had to make some gigantic hamburger patties which were also a hit. Next time I will make at least 12-16 buns. I didn’t have sesame seeds so I used a flax seed mix which was tasty. I hardly ever use a mixer to make bread but I watched the video and thought I’d try it. It was super easy as opposed to hand kneading for all that time… hopefully no ancestors are turning over anywhere because of it.For those who had a problem with the plastic wrap, generously dust these with flour. That should help.I couldn’t fit all the buns in my pan so I rolled two of them super thin and cooked them on a griddle pan. The dough also makes a delicious flat bread. Thanks again Chef John. You rock!!
This scallop dish was exceptional. Delicious. I substituted cream cheese for Cremer fraish. Added lemon juice with zest and a tsp of sugar. Drizzled butter on top. Then baked for 8 minutes (because I added about 15 scallops instead of 8). Also added cooked spinach with water squeezed out after baking scallops just before stirring into al dente fettuccine. Plated on top of a piece of brown bread.
Excellent recipe. I scaled for one pie (shame). I didn't have celery so I used celery salt and added a diced potato. I cooked the potatoes, carrots and peas in chicken stock instead of water. I also made my own slightly sweet butter and flour pie crusts the day before. I will never buy another supermarket or fast food pot pie.
