I am so thankful this recipe popped up! I love breakfast casseroles and this is the first one I have seen that uses croissants and gruyeye cheese! it's seriously so SO good! I did increase the ingredients by about 50% because I needed enough for a 9x13 pan. I browned the chopped ham in butter and let it cool. I've never cooked with gruyeye cheese but didn't have any problems finding it in the speciality cheese section of my grocery store. It comes in a wedge so I had to grate it myself. I kept the cheese in the fridge until it was time to assemble. The one thing that threw me off was the sour cream. When whisking it into the egg mixture the sour cream didn't want to blend very well so next time I will use a hand held mixer. I served it on Father's Day and it was a HIT and when the "master chef" Dad of the group wanted the recipe I knew it was a true winner!! Next time Im taking a photo!
I have been using the same chili recipe for years (basically from the back of a seasoning package) and I finally decided I can do better. My niece is at Purdue right now so OF COURSE I am going to give this one a whirl! Well, I now have a new go to chili recipe!! Of course I modified it, it's chili!! Here are my take aways...the sausage, beer, worcestershire, tabasco and seasonings are a must, I did go easy on the cumin. I also used fresh garlic. Mine went in the crock pot and cooked all day. Since this has thousands of 5 star ratings and comments, I am sure no one will find this review but who cares :). The name drew me to the recipe and from now on I will make chili the Boiler Maker way! Boiler UP!!
It's a very cold day in February but that doesn't matter because I have this soup simmering on the stove. I started it at 4:00p and it will be ready to eat by 6:30p. This soup is so easy! It's my family's favorite.
