This pasta sauce works as a pizza sauce too! My mom gave me the recipe. It's quick and easy to make and can be doubled or tripled. Substitute other cheeses and herbs for variety.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

  • cup water

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons red wine

  • 2 teaspoons white sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano

  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil

  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in tomato paste, water, Parmesan cheese, wine, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes.
