Baked Pork Chops with Apples

This is my favorite baked pork chop and apple recipe that my friends and family just love to death whenever I make it for them. If possible marinate chops in teriyaki sauce, honey, Gulden's® mustard, black pepper, and garlic for at least 3 hours, or overnight.

Ingredients

  • 6 pork chops

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

  • 2 cups applesauce

  • 1 cup chicken stock

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon black cherry balsamic vinegar

  • 1 pinch garlic pepper seasoning

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add pork chops and cook until browned, seasoning with salt and pepper, about 5 minutes per side. Place pork chops in a large ceramic casserole dish.

  3. Add applesauce, chicken stock, ketchup, brown sugar, flour, vinegar, and garlic pepper to the skillet with the pork juices. Stir until thickened and smooth, about 5 minutes. Place sliced onion and apple on top of pork chops; pour applesauce mixture on top.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the pork reads 145 degrees F (63 degrees C), about 45 minutes.
