His first book, Crushed: How A Changing Climate Is Altering the Way We Drink, was published in October 2022.

Brian has written about wine, spirits, travel, and food full-time for more than 15 years. In addition to his work with Food & Wine digital, he regularly contributes to Forbes.com, Whisky Advocate, and more. Brian often appears on camera and frequently presents lectures on wine, spirits, and the effects of climate change on the drinks industry. He also hosts tastings and seminars for corporate clients around the United States. His first book, Crushed: How A Changing Climate Is Altering the Way We Drink, was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a must-read.” He travels extensively both internationally and domestically for his work.

Education

Freedman earned his BA from Penn State University and his MA from New York University.
