While she has held a number of community-based project management positions throughout her professional career, Taylor is at heart a master storyteller and home cook. Her talent is her ability to interweave the rich food history of her Southern roots with the culinary ideas of the present, as she did in The Up South Cookbook: Chasing Dixie in a Brooklyn Kitchen (2015). In addition to Food & Wine, Taylor’s work has appeared in Saveur, Extra Crispy, Wine Enthusiast, Civil Eats, and The Splendid Table, among others. She is also the co-founder of Maroon House, a marketplace and retreat house for Black creatives. Taylor divides her time between New York and Georgia.
