My Mom Swears By This Clever Whisk—and I Can’t Live Without Mine Either

I’ll never use another whisk.

Many of my childhood memories take place in the kitchen, where my siblings and I constantly played sous chef to my mom. She owned a baking business while we were growing up and often put us to work fetching ingredients from the pantry, sifting flour, and stirring lots and lots of batter. From a young age, I’ve found whisking to be the most aggravating kitchen task. Typical balloon whisks collect buildup quickly, which means you have to constantly pause to poke through the bottom and scrape out bits of egg yolk and brown sugar.

For years, I retired my whisk altogether and used a dinner fork instead, but ever since my mom introduced me to this magical whisk from Williams Sonoma, I’ve completely changed my tune.

This whisk from All-Clad is unlike any other I’ve used (or seen). Unlike balloon whisks, which feature curved wires that overlap at the bottom, this ball whisk features bead-tipped prongs. Its unique shape makes it less likely for pieces of food and other buildup to get caught inside, which takes the hassle out of mixing batters, stirring sauces, and more.

The ball-tipped wires on this whisk are flexible enough to fan out and reach deep into the corners of my mixing bowls and pans. Thanks to its narrow shape, it can fit into containers of all shapes and sizes, meaning it’s versatile enough to mix up salad dressing in a Mason jar or scramble eggs directly in a shallow skillet. The wires seamlessly incorporate and aerate ingredients without latching onto them — eliminating the need to constantly pause and clean off my whisk. In short, this whisk helps me bake so much faster while saving me from wasting precious ingredients.

Thanks to its blunt, rounded ends, I’ve found that the whisk is gentle enough to use on metal pans without scratching them. I love that it’s made from stainless steel that’s strong enough to cut through thick batters and sticky peanut butter, ensuring it can take on any task. Not only is it conveniently dishwasher-safe, but since there’s no intertwined wires, the whisk is also easy to wash by hand — no stubborn, stuck-on bits here — and a breeze to store in the cabinet as well

If you’ve ever been victimized by clogged, tangled whisk wires, toss that bulky balloon whisk and snag this simple solution that my mom has sworn by for a decade. This ultra-durable ball whisk from All-Clad makes whisking a pleasure, not a chore, and you can grab one for $28 right now at Williams Sonoma.
