Elizabeth Passarella is a magazine writer with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. She began her career in beauty as an editor at In Style and Vogue, before expanding her work into food, travel, and home design. She was previously the "Cranky Consumer" columnist at The Wall Street Journal and wrote about being a Southerner living in New York for The New York Times. She's covered weddings for Martha Stewart Weddings, written humor pieces for Real Simple, tackled tough parenting issues for Parents, and highlighted unique homes and renovations for publications like Coastal Living and Airbnb. Elizabeth loves to cook and spent several years contributing easy, comforting recipes to Apartment Therapy's The Kitchn site. Most recently, she has written the "Social Graces" column for Southern Living, discussing etiquette around wedding thank-you notes, geographic differences in manners, and the art of throwing a Southern funeral. Her first book, Good Apple: Tales of a Southern Evangelical in New York, was published in January 2021. It is a humorous essay collection about family, faith, politics, and life in New York. It was named as one of the Best Books of 2021 by Real Simple.
