After breaking ground in January, construction has finally begun on what will be Georgia’s biggest Buc-ee’s.

The project, located off I-95 near Brunswick, is hard to miss if you’re traveling along the Georgia coast. According to Savannah Morning News, Buc-ee’s is currently building a 74,000 square-foot location with 120 fuel pumps, making it the largest location in the state. The new Brunswick location will surpass Georgia’s two other Buc-ee’s (in Fort Valley and Adairsville) by more than 20,000 square feet.

A Buc-ee’s representative told the newspaper that they have a tentative opening date of June 2, 2025, though it is subject to change.

"Brunswick is a natural stop between our Florida and South Carolina locations on a stretch of interstate near the beautiful Georgia coastline," Stan Beard of Buc-ee's said earlier this year. "This community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are excited to finally get started here."

There are currently 62 Buc-ee’s locations in the U.S., with the majority concentrated in the travel center’s home state of Texas. The company recently expanded to Colorado and Missouri and has plans to open stores in Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

The country’s largest Buc-ee’s travel center opened its doors in Luling, Texas, on June 10, 2024. The new 75,000 square-foot center replaced the city’s previous Buc-ee’s store, which was the first Buc-ee’s travel center built in 2003.

This is a developing story.
