A standard in cocktail bars across the world, the Moscow Mule is made with vodka and ginger beer and is served on the rocks in a copper mug. This festive holiday version follows suit, but with a special twist—sweet-tart cranberry juice.

Not only does the cranberry juice give the cocktail a merry color, it also plays well with the effervescent spiciness of the ginger beer. For an extra kick and a nice hint of sweetness, these Cranberry Mules have a splash of ginger liqueur, which helps to round out and soften the tart and spicy flavors.

And though they’re typically served in a copper cup, you can enjoy this sparkling treat in any glass you like—just don’t forget to pop in a few fresh cranberries and a lime wheel to crank up the holiday spirit!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups chilled cranberry juice cocktail (such as Simply Cranberry Cocktail)

  • 2 cups (16 oz.) vodka

  • 2 cups chilled nonalcoholic ginger beer (such as Fever-Tree or another spicy ginger beer)

  • 1 cup (8 oz.) ginger liqueur (such as Domaine de Canton)

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from 4 limes)

  • Ice

  • Garnishes: lime wheels and fresh cranberries

Directions

  1. Stir together cranberry juice cocktail, vodka, ginger beer, ginger liqueur, and lime juice in a large pitcher. Serve in copper mule mugs filled with ice, and garnish with lime wheels and fresh cranberries.
