Vivian Howard is an award-winning chef, television personality, restaurant owner, culinary educator and food writer. She has won a James Beard Award for Outstanding Culinary Host, and her documentary A Chef’s Life won an Emmy and a Peabody Award. Vivian interned at wd~50 and trained as a chef de partie at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Spice Market, and has owned several of her own restaurants in North Carolina including Chef & the Farmer and Lenoir. Vivian is the author of the cookbooks Deep Run Roots and This Will Make It Taste Good and host of the PBS series Somewhere South.
