Southern Living Food & Nutrition Review Board

Meet our Review Board members and learn more about our editorial process.

The Southern Living Food & Nutrition Review Board works to ensure that our team publishes content and information that can be trusted. Our Review Board is made up of registered dietitian nutritionists and licensed dietitians who have worked in the nutrition space for a combined 70+ years.

Our experts provide fact-checked, well-researched, and up-to-date information on every subject matter they assess. Every article that is evaluated by the Review Board has also been fact-checked for accuracy before being reviewed for a second time by a registered dietitian nutritionist or licensed dietitian on the Review Board. Southern Living recipes have also been developed by professionals in the Southern Living Test Kitchen.

In taking these extra steps to ensure accuracy, the brand's goal is to empower our readers to not only cook delicious recipes but to understand that they can trust us when it comes to nutrition and food safety and storage as well.

Which Topics Are Reviewed?

Our editors hand-pick individual articles to be further reviewed. We select important documents that affect your health, wellness, and lifestyle, so we can be confident the information you receive is factual and unbiased. From how long an item is good in the fridge for to the difference between two ingredients in your kitchen cabinet and how to properly cook a turkey, our experts review documents that involve the food you eat in your everyday life, as well as the recipes you serve on holidays and special occasions.

This applies to new content as well as articles that have recently been updated by editors. If an article has been checked by a Review Board member, you will see a stamp below the author’s byline on the document.
