Indulgent, fresh, and easy as pie, this summer version of baked Brie won rave reviews in the Southern Living Test Kitchen.

If you haven't been introduced to the wonder that is baked Brie, prepare to be amazed. 15 minutes in the oven, and you have a gorgeous plate of molten cheese guaranteed to be scooped up faster than you can bake another.

Peaches and Brie: A Summer Treat

Fruit is a wonderful complement to baked Brie. Warm, bubbling cheese needs bright tanginess that fresh fruit provides, and here, peaches play that role beautifully. The hot jalapeño pepper jelly and spicy brown mustard give the dish the kick it needs to take it to the next level, and a sprinkling of salt takes it the rest of the way.

Make this decadent baked cheese appetizer when you want a surefire hit at the summer party, and serve alongside water crackers and apple slices. Can't find Brie packed in a wooden box? Simply bake the cheese in a small pie plate or baking dish.

Ingredients for Baked Brie with Jezebel Peaches

The ingredient list is simple. You'll need Brie most importantly, but note that baked Brie doesn't require an expensive variety. Then grab some pantry staples: spicy brown mustard, salt, pepper, and a ripe peach. Add in some hot jalapeño pepper jelly, and you're on your way to an incredibly delicious and impressive appetizer.

The History of Jezebel Sauce

Named after the Biblical figure Jezebel, typical ingredients include apply jelly, pineapple preserves, mustard, horseradish, salt and pepper. It hits all the right notes: sweet, spicy and tangy. In this recipe, the pepper jelly brings the heat, mustard the tang, peaches the sweetness, and salt and pepper round it all out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you have to cut the rind off Brie before baking?

The rind does not need to be removed before baking, but in this recipe, removing the rind means you can dunk crackers right through the peaches and bubbling cheese without the rind getting in the way. If you're baking the Brie without the wooden container and want to keep things contained, you can leave the rind on, and slice in to reveal the lavalike center when serving.

  • Can you reheat baked Brie?

After serving, refrigerate any leftover baked Brie. Reheat in the microwave or back in the oven at 300°F for 10-15 minutes until molten again.

  • What other fruits pair well with baked Brie?

Brie is the perfect complement to fruits of all types — particularly stone fruits. Try tossing the Jezebel sauce with cherries, apricots, nectarines, or plums with guaranteed good results.

  • How can I best transport baked Brie to a party?

If you'll have access to an oven on site, pack the Brie and peach mixture separately and bake as directed when you arrive. If not, bake completely, wrap in foil, and transport. Brie can be served warm, if not hot, and popped in the microwave for a few minutes to reheat if needed.
