Sweet and Tangy Mustard Dressing

Mustard sauce—South Carolina’s go-to sauce for ’cue—gets its signature flavor from from a surprisingly humble ingredient—plain yellow mustard. Bolstered by honey, cider vinegar, and a dash of chile powder, this dressing’s sharp flavor will wake up any salad.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard

  • 3 tablespoons grapeseed oil

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon water

  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 small garlic clove, finely grated (about 1/4 teaspoon)

  • 1/8 teaspoon chipotle chile powder or cayenne pepper

  • Kosher salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Whisk together mustard, grapeseed oil, honey, apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon water, Worcestershire, garlic, and chile powder in a medium bowl; season with salt and pepper to taste.

Dressing can be stored in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 5 days.
