Anthony Bourdain was a travel documentarian, chef, and author who wrote numerous books based on his experiences in the culinary world, including Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. He appeared as a judge on cooking competition shows and hosted several travel programs showcasing cultures and cuisines from around the world. Anthony died in June 2018 in France while filming for his critically-acclaimed CNN travel series Parts Unknown.

Experience

Anthony Bourdain attended culinary school and worked in various professional kitchens before serving as executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in New York City. He authored both fiction and nonfiction books with the latter being more popular, including No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach, The Nasty Bits, and Medium Raw.

Anthony was known for traveling the world and partaking in local cuisines while highlighting the humanity of the people and cultures he encountered along the way. He was especially adept at balancing humor and humility with a desire for social justice.

He served as a judge and mentor on The Taste (2013–2015), an ABC cooking competition series he executive produced, and appeared numerous times as a guest judge on Bravo'sTop Chef. Bourdain also narrated and executive produced several episodes of the award-winning PBS series The Mind of a Chef.
