With more than a decade of experience writing and editing food and nutritional content, Betty Gold is the former senior digital food editor at Real Simple and acting senior food editor at Well+Good. Betty has also spent time working in product analysis at Good Housekeeping and in food production on The Martha Stewart Show.

Experience

Betty Gold got her first taste of food media while completing internships at The Martha Stewart Show, Food Network Magazine, and Bon Appetit while studying at New York University. Upon graduating and earning a bachelor of science focusing on food and nutritional studies, Betty joined the James Beard Foundation publications team where she wrote for the James Beard blog, edited and standardized recipes for its website, and assisted at foundation events. 

In 2013, Betty joined Good Housekeeping as an editorial assistant and was soon promoted to senior editor and product analyst for the Good Housekeeping Institute. Here, Betty tested kitchen gadgets wanting the infamous Good Housekeeping Seal of approval and wrote about cooking, food, and gifts for the website and print edition, including feature stories.  

After five years at Good Housekeeping, she joined Real Simple as its senior digital food editor and oversaw all food- and nutrition-related content on the magazine’s website.

Today, Betty is the senior food editor at Well+Good.

Education

Betty Gold graduated summa cum laude from New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Food Studies and Nutrition. While at New York University, she was the recipient of the Dean's Honor Travel Colloquium where she traveled to Salvador, Brazil, to research public healthy policy and child wellness as compared to New York City.
