Patagonian Negroni

A Chilean twist on an Italian Favorite, this Negroni swaps out gin for Trakal, an herbaceous spirit from Northern Patagonia. Matias Supan, the bartender-owner of Santiago's Seite Negronis, uses slightly less Trakal than you would gin so that the spirit doesn't overpower the Campari and vermouth.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Campari

  • 1 ounce Martini & Rossi Rubino

  • 2/3 ounce Trakal

  • Club Soda

  • Orange Peel, for garnish

Directions

  1. Put all of the ingredients into an ice-filled mixing glass and stir until well chilled.

  2. If serving on the rocks, strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with large ice cubes and garnish with an orange peel. If serving with club soda, strain the cocktail into a tall Collins glass filled with large ice cubes and add club soda (start with a splash of club soda and add more as desired to experiment with how it draws out new flavors). Garnish with an orange peel.
