Apple Old-Fashioned

With a deep warmth from applejack, this variation on an Old-Fashioned lets floral honey and fresh apple flavors shine without getting overpowered. For a hot drink, combine ingredients in a heatproof glass with 2 ounces boiling water.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup (2 ounces) Laird's Straight Applejack 86

  • 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) Honey Syrup (see Note)

  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

  • 1 lemon peel twist

Directions

  1. Place Laird's Straight Applejack, Honey Syrup, and bitters in a cocktail mixing glass filled with ice, and stir until very well chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with lemon peel twist, and serve.

Note

Honey Syrup (makes 1/2 cup ounces): Combine 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup near-boiling water in a small heatproof bowl. Stir until dissolved. Let cool to room temperature before using.
